I think we should have the Reputation code here, looks good and then we'll be able to honestly comment on other users. :)
Please, I beg you :)

It wouldn't be an honest comment, it would just be a plus or minus..

Personally, I've used it on other forums and mostly it was abused and people would get mad if people gave them a low rep. Basically, the trouble it caused wasn't worth it.

Eh, really? Because it's a 24 hour wait between repping the same person, just give it a try, promise you won't be disappointed :)
I'd like to be repped once and a while, it'd be better then tokens.

The other option is the same code but modified slightly so negative rep deductions are not possible, thus making it a Thanks button instead as seen here:-

The problem is though is that people will just spam their friends with thanks to give them a higher number. I've always found it works better in smaller and therefore closer communities.

If by some chance they allowed it on Outline, making it without the possibility of Negative rep is retarded. If you're going to have positive, you have to have negative.

Lol, I think retarded is a bit of strong way of looking at it, sometimes people just like to say thanks to others for services etc.

Personally I wouldn't use it myself, as there are always a few individuals that abuse it which in turn de-values any positive aspects of it.

It's more widely abused positively to make themselves look better.

If someone gets negative comments or negative reputation, they generally deserve it

I suppose so, but in my opinion it's up to the staff of a forum to hand out any criticism rather than the members themselves. I've seen people pretty much end up hating each other due to this sort of thing, when if a mod had just had a quiet word to start with it would never have escalated.

Outline has a history of, believe me, not using codes created by other communities. If we decide to implement a code for rep, it will most likely be made by someone on staff...... or retired staff.

As for having one, I think it's a good idea.

I wouldn't use it as some people will abuse it. We don't really need that here at Outline.

I remember some of the ridiculous reasons some members entered when repping others at my forum. The code was swiftly removed after that :D

What Outline have done with the tokens has worked though. If they were to remove the tokens and replace with reputation, it would change their whole layout completely, it would be the same as other forums, other that being original. What else can you do with the reputation apart from build it through people?

Winter is coming.
I, personally, do not really want a reputation system. I'd say the Golden Members group is enough of a higher rank. If you want comments on how you are, just ask someone. ;)

However, as with anything else, if there is enough of a movement for it then it will be added.

I don't really see the point in having one because like you said get's over run with friends spamming with it.
