Hi.
|
Well.. I was supposed to get mine today - found out that my vision is 20/70 and 20/80.. far from the 20/20 that I used to have. Now, I'm positive I'm not the only person in the world that has had problems doing this, but I can't get contacts in for the life of me. I've got really long eyelashes, so that certainly doesn't help (even the doctor noticed.. he said that most girls would like to have my eyelashes, hahaha). Any tips for a beginner like me? I suck horribly at putting them in. :3 |

Ahahaha this is like my sisters. They took forever just to get them in the first week. For me, it's easy really ![]() Hmm try just looking straight ahead and force your eye to stay open, like you're in a staring contest or something. xD It's gets better after the first week anyway, so you'll definitely get the hang of it by the end of the week

Oh, Joe, welcome to my club. Actually, I just put them on myself right now, but I've had them for quite a few months.Alright, to begin, get some tissues. You'll need them if you keep hitting your eye, since it's so sensitive and all. Next, take one finger from the hand you're not using to put the contact in and use it to hold the upper lid of your eye, and take one finger from the hand you ARE using to put the contact in to hold the bottom eyelid. That should keep your eyelashes out of the way, which is always my biggest problem as well. By the way, most doctors recommend you have the contact on the palm of your finger, but instead put it on the tip like I do. It really helps a lot, and my dad taught me that when I first got contacts. To finish it off, carefully put the contact in your eye. Once it's in, carefully again, close your eye and move it around while it's still closed. That should put the contact in the center of your pupil. And there is a whole tutorial on how to put a contact into your eye.

Hi.
|
Ah, I see. I shall try again on Monday when I go back. ![]() My mom was trying to make me get blue-colored contacts so I would have blue eyes.. not sure what was up with that. Just seemed strange to me. xD |

Oh, that's interesting. I've always wanted something like that, but apparently "my eyes are beautiful just the way they are". <.< @Lighty: I'm in a good mood, I guess you could say. |

Joe, I think we're twins. First the contacts, then the whole big-eyelashes, now this. What a coincidence.

It gets alot easier after you've done it for a few weeks. Are yours daily (i.e. you have to put them in and take them out every day?). Used to take me about 5 minutes to get them both in cos it was so hard, now it's about 10 seconds, so much easier. Wait til you get some sand or some dust in your eye with them on, omg the paaaaain haha. |

Same problem here. Super long eyelashes, but they don't bother me too badly -- they're worse when I wear glasses because they rub up against the glasses when I blink. Anyways, look straight ahead and keep your eye open. Try to avoid touching your eye with anything but the contact. To this day I still hate touching my eyes with my finger. It really, really bothers me. So yeah. And yes, use the tip of your finger - it's much easier if you do it that way. Try putting in eyedrops before you put in your contact so it makes your eyes less irritable. That tip is also applicable to taking contacts out; it's easier if you use eyedrops before. As for your vision, consider yourself lucky. Mine is somewhere around 20/800.
