It's a love story, baby just say yes
Interesting video, it has some good points in it.

Es una trampa!
My mom's high school didn't even have a calculus class at the time. Of course, we have one now. But still. And high schools are getting more advanced every day. When she was in HS, Algebra II was labeled "advanced math"; now it's considered one of the lower-level HS math courses. The same pattern is repeated along every subject except maybe history and English.

I will admit, the public school system has degraded a lot, but they offer much more material than they used to.

My mom teaches reading recovery, a program designed at first graders who are having trouble reading, and they do indeed start off the first week or so with "encouragement" exercises, telling the students they're right no matter what they say. But that doesn't last very long. And the program works. She's only had one student fail so far out of the hundreds she's taught.

After going through the entire Maya part, I can tell you that it's extremely ignorant. Maya's mom is an idiot, point blank. Perhaps she's the one that's been dumbed down. And this entire hypothetical scenario ("AND HE'S A PROFESSIONAL!") only serves to irritate me more. The entire system described there would get that school system mired in a vast lake of lawsuits. Idiotic to the extreme. If you think that this video is "touching" or "informative," I have some real estate I'd like to sell you...

From there, the video degenerates into more idiocy and continues along the same track, forming an argument around core principles that are intrinsically flawed. More stupidity, I guess. I especially love the word "professionals" thrown in every so often to try to give the argument some base. By the way, look up some of their facts. A lot of their material is anywhere from a century to a half-century old. How dumb are your parents? They're the ones affected the most by this "conspiracy." ;)

Phonics were used when I was in kindergarten. They have not been removed. And yeah, that is coincidence that the number of child murderers and suicides rose. Correlation does not imply causation, unless you'd like to believe the old argument that as the number of pirates in the world has decreased, the global temperature has risen.

FLUORIDE? Seriously? Go back to chemistry. All things are bad when not in moderation, and chemical compounds have differing properties. Ozone, O3, is a poisonous gas, while oxygen, O2, is necessary for survival. Just because the word 'fluoride' in something doesn't mean it's deadly.

This video is probably the biggest BS I've seen in a while.

FACT: This video is stupid. He's obviously not a professional.
