Who here hates the books that the school makes you read for English? I do.

I didn't like the little stories in the text books we'd get, but when I was in 8th grade, we read "The Hobbit" which I quite enjoyed. Then in 11th grade I took a "Novels" class and read some pretty good books in there too.

Eh, I usually just didn't like the books we had to read at school because we had to read them...I usually like reading books. :P We read a lot of books that I didn't like, but probably would like if I had read them outside of class, haha.

We only read books about Psychopaths and the like. It's depressing. :P

Wow. Our English teacher only gave us like 5 books to read and I only read like 3. I don't really hate them, haha.

I'm probably going to get some Spanish novels next year in Spanish 4 (assuming I don't drop the class at the beginning of the year). What are some good and popular ones that us gringos might know about?

Catcher in the Rye is about nothing. Let me summarize:

It's about a guy walking around towns reminiscing about the past.

There. Boring. (n)

It just depends. I'll admit that most books that are mandatory to read are boring/I dislike not only because it's a bad book, but also because it's mandatory. Some books are good, which is a rare sight. :P

Only a couple are really good, the others are just plain boring and make no sense at all.

The Quijote is a given, but I suggest you give a try to "El Cantar del Mio Cid" which is more of a big poem than a novel.
