Hell, they weren't even treated right in Africa. How do you think most of the slaves got to the coast and onto the European ships? Because African tribes waged war against each other, took prisoners and sold them to the Europeans. I'm sorry, but I just don't see this as racism and people just need to stop being offended by everything. Especially if it wasn't in the slightest bit meant to be. You really think a company aimed at making money would try it's best to insult lots of people by making a racist commercial? No, no they don't. |

That's what I'm saying. No company would purposefully try to alienate an entire demographic of their consumer base. Somebody on the wall asked, "With all the people working there, no one thought that it might be a little offensive?" No, because not everyone sees the world in black and white. No pun intended. |

People just need to be more open-minded to everything. I know a few racists myself and even 1 of them (which is actually my boyfriend) stopped being racist because he works with an African. So I mean, you don't know them, don't judge them. And please, the ad might be taken the wrong way but it wasn't meant to be racist. |

There is big money and perks to using the racism card hence why they use it so much. At first, it was used for legitimate reasons but these days it seems it's used more and more just to make a buck instead of actually protecting yourself against bigotry. I honestly think it's gotten to a point where you no longer need laws protecting you from it as there is so little of it left that you can starve the bigots by not frequenting their stores and buying what they make. It begs the question of why in the hell would you want to be openly racist when there is so many laws out there that could use to ruin you or at least inflict heavy financial damage if someone were to call you on it? BTW, I don't even see what is so bad about the ad.I guess that silly thing called logic and common sense keeps getting in the way of seeing the racism in that ad. Oh well... |

I posted something about this on my Facebook and a girl I know was saying that racism hurts and has been a big part of her own life and she can understand why people are boycotting and I just kind of slapped my head. Of course racism still exists, and people have every right to be offended and even take action when they're the victim of it. The bottom line, though, is the ad wasn't racist to begin with. When you expect it and look for it, you're going to find it even where it doesn't exist. |

Oh, and lets pause for a moment. Lets say this would be racist. So what if it had been a white guy? Then that would be racist too, right? Because it would imply that white people aren't civilized. What may annoy me more than people seeing racism in everything is people seeing racism in just the things that affect themselves, rather than being able to see the bigger picture and realize it goes both ways. |

Absolutely. It's just an irritating situation all around. How can society ever get to a place where this isn't an issue if people insist on interpreting everything in such a negative way? |

The funny thing is the ad isn't racist: the people who are calling it racist are indeed the racists. Oh the not-so-irony. |
More than likely you'll see an edit on my post(s)! I hate it.
