They were stolen yesterday. Bank rang me up and said there'd been someone trying to take money out but they'd stopped it. Thank god.

Luckily nothing's gone and they've shut off the card to send me a new one.

Anything happened like this to you before?

I'm pretty sure something similar happened to my parents' accounts a couple times. Though, rather than getting a call, they received the message from the mail.

It happened to one of my friends before, but not to me...so lucky that your bank caught it though.

Yeah I know right >.<

The woman was so kind on the phone as well. She checked back all my transactions from earlier in the week. I wonder what it was that triggered them to see it as not me.

My money's on it being a total clear-out of my bank (as in them trying to take out all my cash) or a transaction in another country ('cos that's unlikely to be me).

Never happened to me, but I did handle a case about that before coming here.

No, but I'm paranoid about this sort this sort of thing happening. I shred everything with my account number on it, and triple check that I put my card away whenever I buy something. :P

I think one method is looking at the type of purchases you make, or if it's online, where you're having them shipped.

When I first started school last year I was buying some Avon products and my bank called to confirm that it was me buying them because the address was different than my own.

They do that, when the address does not coincide they put it in an "Unapproved transaction list" for a moment, until a supervisor requests information and someone calls the user. I used a list as the one described above as evidence in a Credit Card fraud case.
