First of all, from a va resident, I need to pass this on.

This over hyped quake has been provided to you by the state of VA

anyways anyone feel it, I was fishing and thought I heard a plane, then I heard screaming from the beech and well went home.

Now once the idiot news channels stop scaring everyone, I might can ue my phone again lol

5.9 isn't massive but it's still big enough to cause some damage. You know if anything's happened because of it, aside from all the unnecessary media attention?

There's some structural damage in Washington DC and the phone service in NYC has been interrupted, according to CNN.

In all seriousness, I hope no serious damage was done. Even small earthquakes can do a lot.

Well, the earthquake made my sand castle come down. You jerk.

It wasn't very noticeable here though. People evacuated buildings after the quake.

I feel bad for laughing at this.

A lot of people here noticed it, but there wasn't any damage at all around me.

People here in southwest Indiana are saying they felt it and felt "sick" from it...

All I felt was my chair sway a bit, thought it was my mind playing tricks on me, until I turned on the news 10 minutes later.

I don't even know where the earthquake came from. The east coast is nowhere near any tectonic plate, so unless there's some unexplained reason as to why it occurred, that's really strange. But yes, I did feel it here in New York. Apparently it was somewhere between a 2.0 to a 3.0 here (closer to 2.0).

Yeah, it would have to be a fault inside the plate, there's really not any other explanation for it that's believable.

I know it came from Virginia already, it's all over the news (and my Facebook news feed). I had not known there was a fault there, though I assume the reason for that is because it's been inactive for so long. Apparently the fault line runs through Chesterfield.
