In a stunning move that has civil libertarians stuttering with disbelief, the U.S. Senate has just passed a bill that effectively ends the Bill of Rights in America.

Everyone knows the government is going to abuse this power, they aren't fooling anyone.

This is just another step in the Government's plan to take away all the rights of the citizens and take total control.

Luckily the vote is still in place, so we'll be able to replace these guys come elections. :/ I just hope Obama doesn't sign this into law.

Fixed it for you. :P

Yes, and let us hope that Obama does not sign it. This would be going too far.

even if obama dont sign it or vetoes, congress just needs to get 2/3 of votes to get this bill in effect

Wow...I knew this was coming but not this soon. If this does pass (which I doubt it will) it's time to leave the country as this country will only fall apart more.

Edit: Wait, why isn't this on some breaking news website? Like CNN and such? Why would a blog have this information but not a major news company? What a load of crap. I even tried looking for this on Yahoo but found nothing.

So wait, does this mean that this does not give any gun-toting American a right to "bear arms?"

See what I did there?
I feel like I should have a signature, but I'm too lazy to make something...

Yeah, I don't believe this. If this was really the case, the news media would be all over this. I've had Today on for an hour and a half and haven't heard a single word about it.

Proof please.

Doesn't it occur to anyone that the major news channels/websites haven't reported this yet because it's only passed through Senate and hasn't been made into law? Or perhaps they have been silenced by a higher authority on the issue?

Anyways, he did post a CNN article about it and CNN is one of the bigger news websites.

thats true, either way it still needs to be reported.
if you follow what company owns what company, the money trail, you can have your news company not report it.

So there not allowed to tell the public something that will affect the country? If that was the case then they should have been silenced about 9/11 as well and the death of bin laden.

Btw the CNN article only talks about fighting terror and never states the suspension of the bill of rights while the article in the blog states it will suspend the bill of rights. Wonder who's wrong here -_-

Why keep 9/11 silent? Let the people know about it so they'll be in favor of going into war. Where as this issue will turn the people against the government, so obviously this they would try to keep under the radar.

The two aren't exactly similar, either. This vote would have occurred behind closed doors, but you can't hide two towers being destroyed in one of the most populated cities in the world. And 9/11 just gave the government more power. The panic it created allowed for the Bush administration to push the Patriot Act through, which never would have passed under normal circumstances. As horrific an event as it was, the government was actually able to use it as an advantage.

Exactly, the Government saw an opening to but a strangle hold on the people, and despite how horrible it was for them to take advantage of such a tragedy, they did it anyways.

Ah, but 9/11 also turned people against the government as well.

Regardless, both articles are about two different things. CNN is about war on terror while the blog is about the actual bill of rights.
