'Linsanity'; Mostly for fans of the NBA...

Now, whenever a sports player is extremely overrated, it bugs me. For example Tim Tebow (has the talent, but doesn't use it properly) has a good performance every now and then and people are all over him as an amazing QB.

But Jeremy Lin is above and beyond "overrated", I cannot believe how many people are worshiping this guy as some godly player. He's had a couple decent weeks, and all of a sudden he deserves the MVP, he's the best player in the NBA, LeBron nor Kobe have a thing on this kid! It's so annoying constantly hearing about this kid when he's not even that good. Or at least, hasn't proven he as good as everyone wants to believe he is for more than two weeks.

What really bugs me is that he can score 5 points in a game and another Knicks player can score 40, and articles will say, "Jeremy Lin leads the Knicks to another victory over the ______!"

I can't wait to see the Knicks have an epic fail this year just to shut people up about this kid. -_- (Sorry Knicks fans... well not really, can't stand New York sports teams. ;) )

People expect Lebron and friends to do well and lead their teams in scoring. Lin is a bench warmer, someone who rarely gets to play, and now he's showing that he really is good and gives hope to all under dogs out there. It's an inspiration story, basically, so I can see why the media is all over Lin instead of another player on the Knicks team.

I don't watch the NBA though, so I really don't care who gets the spot light and who doesn't.

I don't watch sports, so I wouldn't know all of this. They were going crazy about Jeremy Lin in my school for the whole week. Everyone was saying, 'LINcredible', 'LINderella Story', "LINdy's', 'Happy VaLINtine's Day', etc. :P

I said those things also in school, just to troll. :#

I'm no huge sports fan, but I do know (my friends are huge Knicks fans) that he's been averaging 20-some points per game ever since he came to the Knicks. Though, since their loss last night, the majority of the hype has died down. :P

I think the only reason he was getting 20-30 point games was because teams were not defending him properly. A lot of teams probably thought he couldn't be a threat so they focused defending the "star" players while slacking on Lin a little bit. Last night we saw the true colors of Jeremy Lin when being defended harsher, I think.

But it was clear that he had helped the Knicks make a seven-win streak. At some point they must have realized they need a better defender on him, did they not? Once again, not a huge sports-watcher, but my friends said the team last night wasn't even that great. So, I'm not quite sure what went on (plus, I didn't watch the game :P ).

Well, the Knicks got beat by one of the biggest losing teams in the league. Lin completely messed the game up, serving up 9 Turnovers.

He's also set a record for the most turnovers by any player in their first 7 games since they started keeping record of player turnovers 37 years ago I think, so yeah... not as "linsane" as everyone says he is.

The hype's died down, but my friends wouldn't shut up about Lin for the duration of his popularity.

That's probably because he had some medical reason to leave, but he surely will be back in the next season. Of course, that's not to say the hype will return along with his return, but there is always a chance.

He did go down with an injury. However, there is a chance he will not return to the New York Knicks, and all sports fans know a player gets over hyped/overrated when they play for a New York team. :r
