We still don't have a full enough team to make promotions, but the decisions have been made. I realize it's not alright to leave people hanging, so I'll get the final yes on the people who we've leaned towards saying yes to and contact them in the next few days. If you haven't received a message by Monday (I'll be quite busy this weekend), you'll know you weren't accepted this time. I'll also note that we are still fully accepting new applicants, if you're reading and you're still curious. |

At this time, after extensive reviewing, re-reviewing, and monitoring of each person's ability to mesh and interact with the forum, we've decided that we're not going to hire any of the applicants. While we need assistance on the staff team, we don't believe that should compromise the standard that we've worked to establish over the years. When I say 'standard', however, I'm not referring to a standard of skill level because that can always be changed for the better, and our plan was to help people evolve their skills during their tenure anyway. The type of standard I'm referring to is one's ability to mesh with our current staff team and the community. We let the intern applications go on for longer to see who would step up and get involved in a higher level with the forum, or who would prove to us they won't repeat mistakes that have been made in the past. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed when we received the answer. Those who were strong in one area often lacked an unbalancing amount in another. While this may seem like a depressing outcome, I am not so demoralized; instead, rather, I am hopeful. This is far from the last time we'll open this opportunity up again to upcoming talent; we believe heavily in allowing those in the shadow the first step in finding the daylight. The talent that I saw is very hopeful, and there are two ways this can be taken: you either break down and give up, or you rise to the challenge and improve the aspects you feel you lack in currently.
