I can guarrentee that you will not find one by sitting on a computer asking how to get one. One most expand horizons and meet new people, all of my girlfriends have been people I haven't known for a long time, we met, we became friends, and then we started dated.

Also, you may try this.....

Erm... You shouldn't speak so general with such statements. I've met my girlfriend on forums and I know people who met on forums that got married. So it's definitely possible. ;)

Where exactly do I find people who use online forums that don't reside in the real world? As far as I can tell, they are very much a part of the same world in which the people you meet every day live in.

Yes but the chances of marrying someone from the online world is slim, no? Meeting someone face-to-face makes you more attracted to them, faster. They seem more real than a computer screen. What if when you meet those people from forums in person, they are completely different than they seemed online? Or you didn't know how to act around them? Trust me, it's very different when you meet someone online than in person. People are generally shyer in person than online.

Personally, I would just be yourself, like a lot of other people have already said. I just find being friends with someone and then developing feelings is always the best because those are always the unexpected relationships :) Be social with the outside world! Sitting at a computer looking for a girlfriend never ends well. Being social is an essential tool to life anyway. Good luck!

I don't believe one finds love anyway as it is usually love that finds you. It finds you in some of the strangest places sometimes and even when you never expected it to find you but it would be foolish to turn away from it based on where, when and how it found you.

I wouldn't worry myself with looking for something that isn't meant to be looked for. Just live your life and it will find you in due time. That's about the best advice anyone can give you in all honesty.

But then again, just waiting for love doesn't make your chances any better. People don't necessarily have to go look for it, but I believe being actively social in the "real world" increases your chances at finding the one you love...instead of doing nothing and waiting for it to find you. Though I do agree with you saying not to worry about it.

@Stacha: Sorry, I didn't realize that. I meant in general, I didn't mean there aren't any relationships that start online. I do know people who have met online and married each other, but those chances are slimmer than finding people you meet face-to-face at first, right?

Nothing wrong with having friends and what not. The problem is when you think up an image of what you think you will fall in love with then proceed to find it. You then become miserable when the perfect one is nowhere to be found. Waiting for love doesn't mean not having a social life outside of the internet.

Oh no, that's not what I meant. I would assume that imagining a perfect significant other isn't ideal and wouldn't be a good situation. But I mean hanging out with people you enjoy and then falling in love with that one person.

Don't worry, I wasn't offended. :) I was just using myself as an example that meeting someone online is perfectly possible. Maddie and Raxby have also been dating for over a year now I think. It's true that "real life" is more common than online relationships and even safer, but when you meet the right person, you meet the right person.

I got married last Sunday, we met online on forums. It's a lot more common than people seem to think.

There are I don't know how many dating sites out there. 10 years ago it might have been uncommon, but not anymore.

I think you should stop worrying about being in a relationship, there's no real reason that you always have to be in one.

Congrats on the marriage. I had been wondering if you two were still together. =3
