Connecticut actually has some strict gun laws, rather than their handguns. You can't really blame this issue on the gun law, but when someone is this crazy, they WILL find a way to obtain the tools needed. I am against citizens being able to weild assault rifles, but handguns are a different story, and to be honest, the gun laws aren't the problem.

With someone with a mind as, excuse my language, fucked up as his, can you really expect a gun law to stop him from going to an alley-way weapon dealer to get the weapons he wants? No. And if it wasn't for the people who were as crazy as this guy, then guns will be used for what they were made to be used for. Defense.

Hi.
^ It wasn't just an assault rifle that he got his hands on, though. He also supposedly had special deeper-impact bullets to further tear apart flesh, a bullet proof vest, and massive magazines/clips for the gun (enough to mow down the whole school).

I just can't believe how idiotic some of the NRA's logic is. Armed guards? Are you kidding me?

An assault rifle is not a gun made for defense, it's a gun made for killing. Even if none of these shootings had ever happened, there is no logical reason to allow ordinary citizens to obtain assault rifles.

You're not going to be able to prevent people from becoming this fucked up in the head, that's just human nature. There's always going to be people like that. So instead the focus needs to be put into stricter laws on guns.

I completely support the idea of allowing people to carry handguns for defense. It's a constitutional right, and they do save lives. Stricter gun laws wouldn't stop everyone, but I do think they would slow things down a bit. At the very least, make assault weapons illegal and put a stop to the gun show loophole.

I actually fully support my little brother, as him and I discussed this on Christmas day. And I agree with the assault rifles, we are not against that, rather it seemed like that in his posts. But the fact of the matter is, if the person is already going to the lengths of killing multiple civilians for no purpose whatsoever, what is a lousy gun law going to do to stop him?

It's crazy how he obtained the assault rifles and other things as well. Assault rifles should only be given to Military. So yes, I agree that they should be made illegal for the purpose of showing that we are trying to stop the violence, and hope it does something, but these people are already wanting to kill someone. They aren't going to allow a gun law to get in between them and their goals when they're already planning on murder.

And I swear if my handgun is made illegal, I'm very disappointed. I obtained a license for it and attended a class to use it for defense purposes, not offense. And I'll be damned if the mistakes of others using it for offense costs me my personal security.

For the most part I agree Steven, but I still think there's valid reason for stricter gun laws. For example, did you know that if a person purchases a gun at a gun show, they can completely bypass all of the usual regulations, restrictions, and waiting periods? That's ridiculous. I also think that mental health needs to be taken into consideration when allowing civilians access to firearms. A person diagnosed with say, schizophrenia, Anti-Social Personality Disorder, these are the types of people who I would feel safer if they weren't allowed access to dangerous weapons. There are disorders, diagnosable disorders, that make a person more prone to violence, and we need to take precautions against that. And it's true; if a person is determined to do bad, they will find a way. But we can at least make it more difficult, difficult enough to even discourage the average person from snapping and having quick, easy access to weapons.

I never thought of it that way, on that note, I do agree with what you have said. (y)
