Looks like I am going to have to buy a 3DS now. I haven't played the last couple of games but I kind of want to get back into it.

Was wondering if a topic for this had been made over here.

I think the water and grass starters suck major ass, but the fire one looks good. I might be a tad biased because it reminds of a fox, and I love foxes. :3

I'm also very happy to see the trailers show older generation Pokemon, so I can avoid using the new Pokemon that will probably suck (in terms of design).

The fire starter + a team of Gen I-III Pokemon and I'm good to go.

me too, was wondering if a topic about this had been made already, since this is big news for the franchise and the evolution of the games.

I don't really believe its that amazing of an evolution, the entire gameplay still seems the same.. the only major thing that is happening is the change from 2d to 3d, but honestly it didnt look like it really changed the game that much.

Yeah, didn't really evolve the franchise at all. Little improvements to the graphics is all.

Aside from that, the game will most likely be the same. Collect the badges, fight the Elite Four, become champion, stop some evil team (hopefully not a team as stupid as Team Plasma).

That's one of the few things stopping me from putting in time to any pokemon games seriously anymore, i feel like i could play any of the older ones and still get a better buzz than the new ones.. since the new ones have really don't nothing revolutionary for ages. It seems to be just a reskinning most of the time with some new pokemon, and a few changes to battles but the game seem all to familiar.

I'd really love to see them open up the pokemon world, even if they have to make sure the jump to the Wii-U or console to really push it in an RPG/over-the-top/3rd person way or even releasing games that take you from being the hero to the villian or something and seeing the other side of the fence; whether that be through team rocket/??? or a rival.

I' m soooo excited. Been having a 3DS just for this (and Zelda and Animal Crossing). I'm going to have to see the evolutions of the starters before I make a decision. But I normally go with water.

Personally I think Nintendo is milking the franchise, but then again its Nintendo, its all the company does, at least they have tried to push a 3D aspect atop there usual animal pit bull fighting.

I definitely know what you're talking about.

In the very least, I would love for them to make a game where you could visit all the regions. With the ability to pick your starting region, and after that you can either choose which region to go to next or they could make it where you go to regions depending on your starting region. For example, if you start in Kanto you'd go Kanto > Jhoto > Hoenn > Sinnoh > Unova. Or if you started in Hoenn, perhaps you'd go Hoenn > Kanto > Sinnoh > Unova > Jhoto. Something like that, just so that every play through could be different, like in my example, Jhoto in the one beginning with Kano and Kanto in the one begging with Hoenn would be the same level group since they are both the "second" region you'd go to. It'd be a lot of work for Game Freak to do on a game, but I think it'd make for a very interesting game. :P

If that's hard to read, I apologize. I'm going on two hours of sleep, so my brain isn't working the way I'd like it to. :r

They could also throw in some extra places, like the Orange Islands, for fun.

Whatever console they made something like that on, I'd buy it. I'd find a way to afford it. xD

But anyways, on the new games, I'm excited to see the full 3D (which most of us were expecting with BW). Hopefully they can deliver this time, but only time will tell.

Sorry to butt in and qoute some stuff, but I find that making a massive several region game would be complex, by the 3rd Region you would be sailing through it, unless each region had some sort of pokemon passport where you had to deposit your level 70-100 it would be you playing the same game about 6 times over :p you already complain about the systematic 8 gym badges and elite group. Try doing it that many times in one game over and over.

Note that I wasn't the one complaining about the 8 gym badge/elite four set up. Read the posts.

I agree with most of the rest of your post though. Something would have to be done with the complexity level for each region in the latter ones, but I'm sure gamefreak could come up with something if they were serious about making a game like that.

I'm not really hyped for new Pokemon games, but X and Y seem really interesting. The whole 3D aspect reminds me of playing Colosseum or XD 'cept on a small handheld. I just hope it's not a disappointment.

Also Chespin is gonna be my starter. It's been decided.

I never complained about the games being nothing more than collecting 8 badges, I just said that X&Y won't be revolutionary because they'll still be the same as the other games. :P

Also, it would be up to them to make the game challenging as you go through it. :P Can anyone say level 500 Pokemon? +D

Increasing the max level would screw up the mechanics for ALL the pokemon to date, and in a game featuring all of them in all their natural regions, that would be a mess to sort out. It sounds good, but I don't see it as a solution that will actually become something.

The only thing I can think of that would make the difficulty stay the same (or increase a little) as the game progresses would indeed be as mentioned to only take a select few of previous pokemon above x level with you to the new region.

Don't worry, it was just a joke. :P

Honestly, if they were going to make a multi-region game again, I'd rather than make it separate from the handheld games. Perhaps an open-world RPG on the WiiU or something.

It would be nice to see something on a console. Something better than PBR. XD

They'll milk it until the end of days because people just keep lapping it up. Personally I think the most I'll do is check it out on an emulator.

pokemon is nintendo franchise only, negotiations would have to happen with sony and microsoft for pokemon to be on consoles. only other option wii console or wii u. also you have to keep in mind the profit split from game sales, how would it be distributed amongs the sony, nintendo, and MS? pokemon is money generator, so the have to keepit fresh and creative for it to be successful. gamefreak has 90 employees, you need more resources and budget if ya wanna go multiconsoles.
