It shouldn't be too big of a surprise if you've been following the development of the two since Microsoft bought Skype. I only hope that Skype gets some benefits from WLM instead of everything coming just from Skype - I'd like to see a bit more development for some games and custom emoticons. :P

Let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore!
Saw this coming, and its really a good idea for Windows especially if they already bought skype. :)

I could have sworn there was a topic about this on here already. O_o

I'm also hoping they bring some of the good features to Skype. Custom emoticons, and the ability to change the font of your text and ONLY YOUR TEXT. I hate that if you change the font, it changes the font for both you and the person you're talking to. I want to be able to change just my font and font color.

Been awaiting this since the day they bought Skype, though not liking the fact it's a forced move. Dropping support and allowing connection is one thing, but disabling Messenger completely to the point where trying to sign in will just initiate a download for Skype is pretty messed up. No doubt it will cause a number of people to leave the service, at least temporarily.

And from what I've been able to gather, the functionality of MSN will be merged with that of Skype, including auto import of contacts etc. Guess we'll find out how well they do it.
